Summary:
Genesis came to the U.S. 4 years ago from Venezuela. She has a BA in accounting. She also worked for 2 years as a credit/risk analyst at the Bank of Venezuela. However, she was unable to get a job after coming to the U.S. due to work permit issues. She expects to be able to work soon, and is interested in starting at a public firm. She is also preparing for the CPA exam this year.
She would be thankful to meet any current or recent professionals in either audit or tax to learn about their experiences and/or get any advice about the skills she needs to succeed in public accounting.
More details:
While she has not been able to work in the U.S., she focused on building her English fluency. She has taken advanced ESL classes at San Mateo Adult School. She also completed an AA degree in Minnesota, and volunteers with VITA (the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program).
She’d appeciate any advice, guidance, or insight as she works to start her accounting career in the U.S.
